How do I apply for a position?

It's as simple as a click of a button! Click on our "Get Hired" tab above to view current opportunities, develop a personal profile, and submit your application online.

How long does it take to apply online?

The online application process shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to complete. If you have a current resume, you can simply upload it to our system and the information will be entered automatically. Or, you may also choose to enter your personal information, along with details such as education or prior work experience, manually. In addition, you may also be asked to answer a few questions to help us determine your basic qualifications for the position.

What happens next?

Every person who applies for a position or submits a profile receives an email confirmation from us acknowledging receipt of his or her interest in our company. The next steps depend on whether you've applied for a specific position or simply submitted your profile.

If you've applied for a position, your information is "attached" to the open position. If your responses to the pre-screening questions are aligned with the requirements of the job, our recruiters will evaluate your profile. Then, if your profile reflects the appropriate qualifications and experience, you will be contacted directly to schedule an interview.

If you've submitted your profile online, but have not attached it to an open position, your information is entered into our candidate database. Our recruiters then use this database when searching for qualified candidates as new openings become available. If your profile matches the requirements of specific jobs, the recruiters may contact you.

Tips for Success

  • Visit Often!
Visit our website often to stay current on career opportunities and to maintain an up-to-date profile. If you have a change of address, phone number or current work status, be sure to update us!
  • Know your talent!
Apply directly to an "open position" for which you are best qualified to match your talents with our requirements and result in a higher potential to be contacted for an interview.
  • Give details!
Be sure to include as many details about yourself as possible (education, work history, requested shift schedule, etc) and answer our questions thoroughly so that we are able to get a comprehensive overview of who you are and what you are looking for in a career.

Where do I go?

Interviews are typically held at the location for which you've applied (i.e. store location, Store Support Center, Distribution Center, etc). Prior to your first interview, you will be provided with all of the information you need including directions, time of arrival, whom to ask for upon arrival, and any other details deemed important.

Who will I meet with?

Depending on the location and position for which you've applied, you could meet with a number of people including the Recruiter, Hiring Manager, Store Director, and your potential peers. You may even be asked to greet our Guests!

What happens next?

Again, depending on the location and position for which you've applied and the people available for your first interview, we may ask you back a second, third, or even fourth time! If so, we'll provide all the information you need to be equipped and well prepared when you return. Once we feel confident that we have all the information we need to make an employment decision, we will contact you to provide feedback on your interview(s).

Tips for Success

  • Dress for Success!
We only have one chance at a good first impression, and your overall presentation to our Guests – including your apparel – is an important part of our guest service. Personal appearance and cleanliness are important to us, therefore, please be neat and well groomed.
  • Be Prepared!
Depending on the type of position you are interviewing for, you may want to bring extra copies of your resume to give to your interviewers. This is especially important if you have made changes to your personal information since applying to the position.
  • Ask Questions!
We love answering questions! Please don't leave your interview feeling like you aren't fully informed and comfortable with the amount of information you received. If you have a lingering question – ask it!
  • Have fun!
Don't be afraid to show us your personality. "Wow" us with your answers to our questions, show us "How" you plan to serve our guests, and tell us in what way you can make an impact to our team "Now". Oh, and don't forget to have fun in the process!

When will I know if I am going to receive an offer?

Although there is no deadline to when you can receive an offer of employment from United, we understand it is difficult waiting to hear an outcome. Therefore, we provide feedback as quickly as possible after the final interview. This can sometimes happen within a few days and other times take as long as a few weeks, depending on the length and intensity of the interview process.

How will my offer be extended?

Generally, your offer will be extended in person or over the phone by either the person to whom you will report or by the person with whom you interviewed.

What happens next?

At the time of the offer, you will be given detailed instructions on the next steps to becoming the newest member of the United Supermarkets family!
