United Supermarkets to Open
Allen Market Street Store February 29
ALLEN, TX (special) - The grand opening of United Supermarkets' newest Market Street store here becomes official on Friday, Feb. 29, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. The store is located on the southeast corner of Hwy. 75 (Central Expressway) and Bethany Drive in Allen, about 25 miles north of downtown Dallas.
The ceremony will conclude three days of store-opening events, which also includes a Preview Party Wednesday evening for Allen area community leaders and a team member rally on Thursday night.
The Allen store is the first of three new Market Street openings on the company calendar for 2008. The second store is scheduled to open in west Frisco this summer, while a third new Market Street is targeted for completion before Thanksgiving in Coppell.
"The new stores are part of a larger strategic plan for growth and expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth market," explained CEO Dan Sanders. "Our plan over the next few years is to project the Market Street banner throughout the northern trade areas of the Metroplex."
The Allen store is an anchor tenant for an upscale development, Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, an 880,000-square-foot, mixed-use lifestyle destination for North Dallas and Collin County consumers. In addition to the shopping center that houses Market Street, the development also will include restaurants and single-family residences.
"We are very pleased that Market Street is an anchor tenant for this development," Sanders said. "Market Street's unique concept is a perfect fit with the design of Watters Creek, and together we believe we will attract that area's shoppers."
Market Street is a world-class food concept store, a unique market that combines the everyday groceries store guests need with the specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and pre-prepared foods they want. The first store opened in Wichita Falls in 1998, and other stores are located in Amarillo and Lubbock (2).
Among Market Street's features are:
- A full-service meat-seafood counter,
- An extensive array of fresh produce (including a large organic complement),
- A whole-health center stocked with natural, organic and bulk foods, as well as the leading supplement brands,
