United Supermarkets to Break Ground
on 5th Metroplex Market Street Friday in Coppell
COPPELL, TX (Special) - Developers, city officials and others will join company leaders from United Supermarkets, LLC, here Friday to officially break ground on the company?‚¶s fifth Market Street store in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The 70,000-square-foot store will be the anchor tenant for Coppell Crossing, at the northeast corner of Texas Hwy. 121 and Denton Tap Road, and will be the company's ninth store under the Market Street banner. Coppell Crossing is a 110,000-square-foot retail development by United Commercial Development that also will include Bank of America. Several other retailers are still in negotiation.
The construction effort is scheduled for completion in late 2008 and is the third new Market Street store slated to open this year.
The first, in Allen, will anchor Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, an 880,000-square-foot, mixed-use lifestyle destination for North Dallas and Collin County consumers. Located at Hwy. 75 and Bethany, the store will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 29.
The other new store - located at Eldorado Parkway and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco - is scheduled to open in late summer. Other Metroplex Market Street stores are in Colleyville and McKinney and have been in operation since 2003 and 2004, respectively.
Market Street is a world-class food concept store, a unique market that combines the everyday groceries store guests need with the specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and pre-prepared foods they want. The first store opened in Wichita Falls in 1998, and other stores are located in Amarillo and Lubbock (2).Among the Market Street's features are:
- A full-service meat-seafood counter,
- An extensive array of fresh produce (including a large organic complement),
- A whole-health center stocked with natural, organic and bulk foods, and the leading supplement brands,
- Full-service floral department,
- An extensive selection of wine and beer selections from around the world,
- Dish Kitchen Store,
- Fresh sushi bar,
- Peet's Coffee and Tea shop,
- Frozen drink/smoothie bar,
- A large bakery emphasizing made-from-scratch pastries, desserts and artisan breads,
- An in-store health care clinic,
- Drive-thru pharmacy, and
- A wide variety of great foods from several in-store restaurants available for dine-in or take-out, with seating to accommodate more than 125 people for instore dining.
The Coppell store will be another "third-generation" Market Street store, featuring the warm, earthy tones that debuted with the opening of the company's newest store in late 2006 in Lubbock.
A unique feature of the Coppell Market Street will be a 2,300-square-foot miniversion of the main store - aptly named "A Taste of Market Street." Not to be confused with a convenience store, the smaller version will offer many of the same products - including meals to go - but in a drive-thru setting. The mini-store also will include a multi-pump fuel station.
Developer for the project is David Dunning of United Commercial Development, while Lee Lewis Construction of Lubbock is the general contractor.United Supermarkets, LLC, is a Texas-based, family-owned grocery chain with stores in 26 markets across north and west Texas.
