UCrew: Celebrating 10 years of community service!
UCrew, our award-winning outreach program, celebrated 10 years of service to our communities in 2012! Created by company Co-President Matt Bumstead, UCrew organizes United’s volunteer Team Members to provide community service in support of local charitable activities. UCrew has four major purposes:
- provide opportunities for Team Members to get involved and serve their local communities
- increase United Supermarkets’ ability to give back
- strengthen relationships among co-workers
- encourage and model service to the community.
During UCrew’s first 10 years, Team Members provided more than 50,000 hours of service through activities ranging from building a Habitat for Humanity home to feeding the hungry, cleaning up highways and neighborhoods, and assisting local schools.
In 2003, the UCrew program earned United Supermarkets' first-ever “Community Involvement Award” from Supermarket News, the grocery industry’s leading trade publication.
To Request Assistance from UCrew
Requests for volunteer assistance through UCrew may be made at any store location, or through Deonna Anderson at the Store Support Center. Requests should be made at least three weeks before the date of the event to provide ample time for processing and volunteer coordination.
