20th Anniversary Jacky Pierce Charity Classic
Raises Record $210,000 for United Way
LUBBOCK, TX (special) –United Supermarkets’ 20th Anniversary Jacky Pierce Charity Classic
golf tournament raised an all-time record $210,000 for the 14 United Way organizations which
serve the United Supermarkets trade area.
The tournament was held Aug. 28-29 at Lubbock Country Club, and proceeds to those
organizations were presented during a special 20th anniversary dinner Sunday evening at
Lubbock’s Cap*Rock Winery.
Donations were made to United Way organizations in the United Supermarkets trade area as
follows:

More than 350 team members, partners and guests participated in the tournament, which has now
raised more than $2.6 million for charities since its inception in 1991.
It is named in honor of United Supermarkets’ longtime produce director, Jacky Pierce, who
guided the event from its infancy until losing a lengthy battle with cancer in August 2002. The
tournament was renamed to honor his memory in 2003.
