Area United Ways Benefit from
19th Annual Jacky Pierce Charity Classic

LUBBOCK (special) –United Supermarkets’ 2010 Jacky Pierce Charity Classic golf tournament raised an all-time record $200,000 for the 14 United Way organizations which serve the United Supermarkets trade area.

The tournament was held Aug. 29-30 at Lubbock Country Club, and proceeds to those organizations were presented during a special ceremony between the morning and afternoon flights on Aug. 30. Monies were awarded on a percentage basis according to store sales in the region served by each United Way.

The breakdown of dollars presented to United Ways in each United Supermarket trade area is:

It is named in honor of United Supermarkets’ longtime produce director, Jacky Pierce, who guided the event from its infancy until losing a lengthy battle with cancer in August 2002. The tournament was renamed to honor his memory in 2003.
