CHILDRESS (Special) - United Supermarkets' Childress location is
currently open for business on a limited basis due to a power outage
resulting from thunderstorms in the Childress area Sunday evening.
Storms knocked out power to much of the Childress area overnight.
"We are on the same power grid as Childress Regional Medical
Center, so of course, the hospital is the top priority," said Paul Evans,
division vice president of United Supermarkets, LLC. "The best time frame
we have right now for being back on full power is 24 to 48 hours."
The United store, located at 2105 Ave. F NW, is currently operating
on limited power provided by backup generators.
Dry groceries and other nonperishable items - including bottled water- are available for purchase. Prescriptions can be filled as long as the store
guest has the empty pill bottle.
