Market Street Plano Grocery Store Hosts
Family Fun Events to Celebrate New Store
PLANO, Texas (April 2, 2009) - Market Street, United Supermarkets’ all-in-one grocery store, celebrates the opening of its new Plano store with a series of grand opening events for the entire family. Located at 1929 Preston Road and W. Park Blvd., Market Street Plano will follow its Wednesday ribbon-cutting ceremony with special celebrity guests, gourmet cooking demonstrations, product giveaways and interactive shopping
experiences now through April 11.Highlighting the festivities is an appearance by actress Tiffany Thornton, who plays Tawni Hart on the Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance,” on Saturday, April 11. Sponsored by Radio Disney 620 AM, Thornton will be present for autographs and pictures from 2 to 4 p.m.
Market Street Plano kicks off the first weekend by welcoming the NASCAR Nationwide Series No. 10 Beringer Vineyards stock car on Friday, April 3. The stock car will be parked near the front of the store from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and guests are invited to check out the vehicle driven by David Reutimann.
The activities continue with a “Women Living Well” health expo led by Corporate Dietitian Dr. Tyra M. Carter on Saturday, April 4. From 2 to 4 p.m., Carter will give small presentations, answer questions and provide free women’s health gift bags for guests who stop by. Also, Corporate Chef Chris Wilson will cook up samples of simple, healthy food options and provide recipes to guests in the concierge area.
In addition, SpongeBob SquarePants, presented by Time Warner Cable, will stop by to greet Market Street guests on Sunday, April 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos with the kids on Friday, April 10, from 1 to 4 p.m.
“We’ve got an amazing lineup of exciting, family-friendly activities to celebrate the grand opening of Market Street Plano, and we hope everyone from the Plano area can pay us a visit and join in on the fun,” said Store Director Robert Bollinger, who has been with the company for more than 25 years.
Market Street is a unique shopping experience that combines the everyday groceries guests need with the specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and pre-prepared foods they want. Like most area Market Street stores, the Plano location includes an in-store health care clinic, sushi bar, full-service meat/seafood counter, Pete’s Coffee Shop and a frozen drink/smoothie bar. Market Street Plano also features the supermarket chain’s newly expanded Nutritional Tag program that helps guide health-conscious guests to foods that meet their unique dietary needs.
Market Street Plano is the company’s fourth DFW store to open in the past 14 months - almost identical stores have opened recently in Allen, Frisco and Coppell-Lewisville - and sixth overall. The first Metroplex location opened in Colleyville in 2003, followed by McKinney in early 2004.
