Market Street to Celebrate Road to Riches Finale in
Plano, Announce Grand Prize Winners
Free food, entertainment and prizes available for guests
PLANO, Texas (Aug. 17, 2009) - Market Street will celebrate the end of its annual United Texas Road to Riches game on Sat., Aug. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at its Plano location at the corner of Preston Road and Park Blvd. The contest, which has already awarded Market Street guests more than $1 million in cash, prizes and coupons, will culminate with a grand celebration including a Disney Channel celebrity, free food, face
painting, balloons, cookie decorating, lunch boxes and the announcement of the contest’s grand prize winners.
“The response to Road to Riches from our guests was simply outstanding this year,” said Randy Crimmins, vice president of marketing for United Supermarkets, LLC. “We are celebrating the end of our summer festivities with a huge party and inviting everyone in North Texas to the Plano store for some great food, fun and we’ll give away some money - actually, a lot of money - while we’re at it.”
During the celebration, Market Street will present eight of the lucky Road to Riches winners with a total of $200,000 in cash prizes, including a grand prize of $100,000. The drawing will take place in front of the Market Street Plano store at 3 p.m. The eight lucky contestants will be flown to Dallas from all over the state and enjoy luxurious accommodations during their stay.
“We’re really excited about announcing the lucky winners,” said Crimmins. “With everyone tightening their belts where they can right now, it’s an amazing opportunity to be able to present someone with a check for $100,000.”
Guests can enjoy a variety of exotic and local foods throughout the Market Street Plano store at the event. In addition to Mrs. Baird’s Smoker providing a combo meal of hot dogs, chips and a drink for $1 with all of the proceeds going directly to charity, Market Street will be providing its own roasted corn for $1.50 and turkey legs for $3.00 as well as Tex-Mex favorites such as tamales, guacamole, salsa and seven-layer dip inside the store for free. Boar’s Head will join in on the fun with a tent outside the store serving premier bratwurst and knockwurst meats on a roll straight from the Boar’s Head wagon for $1.50 each.
For adult guests, several samples of Market Street’s diverse beer collection will be out for tasting as well as wine and cheese pairings to enjoy while shopping the store and taking part in the other festivities. Keva blended drinks will be serving its two most popular blends in front of the store for $1 each as well.
In addition to enjoying the free food, everyone is encouraged to partake in the activities and events located throughout the Plano store. Guests can let their creativity soar with the on-site face painters and balloon makers. A cookie-decorating station also has been installed for the event to provide children with the opportunity to decorate and enjoy their own freshly-baked creations. As part of Market Street’s commitment to helping guests with their back-to-school needs, the first 100 guests to arrive at the event will receive a free Market Street lunch box.
Radio Disney will broadcast live from the event, joined by Disney Channel sensation and North Texas teen actress Debby Ryan. The Suite Life on Deck star will make a guest appearance at the event from 2 to 4 p.m. to sign autographs and take pictures with guests.
